BDx Data Centers has begun construction of its CGK4 AI campus in Jatiluhur, West Java, according to multiple independently reported accounts published on 22 September. The project moves a large planned data-centre development into a construction phase at a time when Indonesian demand for high-density AI infrastructure is drawing fresh attention.
A phased 640MW campus
On its project page, BDx describes CGK4 as a secured, phased 640MW AI-campus development in Jatiluhur. The company lists 845MVA of PLN utility supply for the site, which is in Purwakarta, West Java.
The first building is planned to provide 120MW of IT capacity in phases, with an initial contracted phase targeted for service in early 2027. That timeline is a target rather than an operating milestone; execution, commissioning and customer deployment will determine the commercial effect.
Why the construction start matters
For companies planning AI, cloud and high-density computing deployments in Indonesia, the important shift is from capacity planning to site execution. The project adds a visible construction-stage signal to the market's broader search for power, land and cooling capacity that can support more demanding compute workloads.
BDx says the campus is designed for production-scale AI and hyperscale deployments. The company also lists NVIDIA DGX-Ready Colocation certification for the development. Neither point guarantees future customer take-up, but both frame the technical specification BDx is presenting to prospective users.
What to watch next
Three indicators will matter as CGK4 progresses: whether the initial contracted phase of Building 1 remains on track for early 2027, how grid and lower-carbon power arrangements develop, and when customers disclose deployed capacity. Building 1 is planned to provide 120MW in phases. Until then, the construction start establishes an infrastructure milestone, not a completed service launch.
