CelcomDigi pays RM381.75m after accepting Malaysia spectrum award terms
The operator accepted 2600 MHz and 900 MHz award conditions, adding to its spectrum position while network capacity and coverage gains remain plans.

CelcomDigi said its wholly owned telecommunications subsidiary accepted the terms of a Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) spectrum award on 15 October and paid the full RM381.75 million price component that day. The company announcement covers two frequency bands used by mobile networks: 2600 MHz and 900 MHz. Acceptance and payment are completed actions; the network benefits described by the company are prospective.
CelcomDigi Telecommunications accepted terms for 2×20 MHz at 2600 MHz for a four-year assignment and 2×5 MHz at 900 MHz for a five-year assignment. The award followed an application information package issued by MCMC on 14 August. The different terms matter because the company is making a single reported payment for spectrum rights with two stated durations, rather than announcing a single band or an immediate network rollout.
The 2600 MHz component builds on an earlier holding. In December 2025, CelcomDigi said it had accepted an MCMC assignment of 2×20 MHz in that band, effective 30 November 2025. That earlier award, which also included 1800 MHz spectrum, carried a separate RM292.5 million price-component payment. The new announcement says the latest award enables a contiguous 2×40 MHz 2600 MHz holding. That larger uninterrupted block is the basis for the company's expectation of greater network capacity and more efficient capital spending.
The 900 MHz award adds a lower-frequency component to that mid-band position. CelcomDigi says it expects the band to support wider and deeper coverage across Malaysia. That is relevant to customers and businesses outside dense city centres as well as inside buildings. The company did not provide a site-by-site deployment timetable with the award announcement.
The company previously linked 900 MHz to its network modernisation programme, saying in 2023 that it intended to deploy the band across sites to improve coverage and indoor experience. The 15 October transaction is a new award and payment, separate from that older network plan. It gives CelcomDigi additional spectrum for the multi-band network it has described to Malaysian customers and enterprise buyers.
