Singapore’s [Economic Development Board](https://www.edb.gov.sg/?ref=southeastasiaconnect.com) (EDB) and [Energy Impact Partners](https://www.energyimpactpartners.com/?ref=southeastasiaconnect.com) (EIP) said on 23 October that they are deepening their partnership to connect energy companies with Singapore’s research and industry ecosystem. The announcement was made at the inaugural Singapore Industry Decarbonisation Forum, hosted by EDB, A\*STAR and the Advanced Energy and Decarbonisation Office.

Under the expanded partnership, EIP plans to introduce promising companies from its global network to researchers and industrial players in Singapore. The two organisations intend to support technical exchange and strategic collaboration, deepen links between their networks, and explore ways to commercialise and scale energy and decarbonisation technologies. The collaboration builds on an existing relationship between EIP and EDB. It frames Singapore as a place where research, industry and technology companies can work together on energy challenges. The two partners will explore how technologies in EIP's network could be developed and scaled through those relationships.

For a company that EIP introduces under the partnership, Singapore researchers and industrial players could become collaborators in assessing technology and identifying operational needs. Singapore's research institutes and industrial companies could in turn encounter technologies from EIP's network. EIP says it works with more than 80 corporate partners worldwide, giving it a channel to both technology developers and potential industrial users.

EDB linked the collaboration to Singapore’s Decarbonisation Grand Challenge, which seeks technologies addressing the country's decarbonisation needs. EDB executive vice president Wey-Len Lim said the partnership could help Singapore understand emerging technologies and industry needs while connecting promising companies with researchers and industry. EIP partner Anil Achyuta said Singapore offers energy startups a base from which to work with industry and pursue scale across the region.

The partners have not named a participating company or project. Their immediate work is to develop introductions and collaboration opportunities between companies in EIP's network and Singapore partners. The announcement establishes a route for those conversations and sets out the areas in which the two organisations plan to work together.
