Google has expanded advertising in AI Mode, its conversational Search experience, to Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore. The 28 October announcement gives advertisers in the three markets another place where their existing campaigns can appear as people explore products and services through longer questions.

Google Ads guidance says eligible Search, Shopping and Performance Max campaigns can participate in these English-language placements through the existing ad auction. Advertisers do not need a separate AI Mode campaign or budget. Ads are labelled “Sponsored”.

The change also broadens how an ad can match a question. Broad-match Search targeting, Shopping, Performance Max and AI Max for Search can qualify for contextual matching based on the question and the generated response. Exact- and phrase-match Search keywords remain eligible for direct commercial queries, rather than that wider contextual matching.

For a regional search team, the distinction affects which existing campaign setups can reach someone who is still exploring a purchase, as well as someone already asking for a specific product.

Measurement remains within the existing campaign structure. Google includes impressions, clicks, conversions and cost from these experiences in aggregate campaign reporting; its guidance does not provide a separate AI Mode placement breakdown. A movement in a campaign’s total results therefore cannot by itself establish the effect of the new placement.
