It has appointed Gamuda Berhad to build an off-river reservoir and treatment plant. The appointment is a current construction opportunity; the facilities and their public-supply benefits remain future outcomes.

Once operational, the plant is [planned](https://www.googlecloudpresscorner.com/2026-11-1-Google-Funds-US-160-Million-in-Shared-Water-Infrastructure-Alongside-Digital-Infrastructure-Development-in-Negeri-Sembilan?ref=southeastasiaconnect.com) to deliver 65 million litres of potable water a day for Google's campus and wider state use. Google says the reservoir design is intended to capture excess river flow and rainfall and help reduce flood risk. Neither the stated capacity nor the flood and public-supply effects are operating results today.

The release says the facilities will be owned by a state statutory body after completion. For data-centre developers and infrastructure contractors, the material change is the funding commitment and named builder. Local businesses and residents have an interest in the eventual shared supply, but the timing, delivered capacity and measured effects remain to be established.
