# Gulftainer enters Thailand through Suksawat Terminal investment

[Gulftainer](https://www.gulftainer.com/?ref=southeastasiaconnect.com) has signed a binding agreement for a strategic investment in [Suksawat Terminal](https://www.ssw.co.th/?ref=southeastasiaconnect.com), marking the UAE-based port and logistics group’s entry into Thailand. The terminal operates on the Chao Phraya River in Samut Prakan, south of Bangkok.

## A river link between Bangkok and Laem Chabang

Suksawat serves importers and exporters across Greater Bangkok and connects by barge to Laem Chabang, Thailand’s principal deep-sea port. The terminal’s own service information says it runs vessel and yard operations around the clock and provides daily barge services to the Laem Chabang area.

## Gulftainer’s plan extends beyond the terminal

For cargo owners, the location creates a river and inland link between Bangkok’s industrial and consumer market and the international shipping services calling at Laem Chabang. [Gulftainer](https://www.gulftainer.com/?ref=southeastasiaconnect.com) is entering through an established operating terminal rather than starting with a new greenfield site.

[Gulftainer](https://www.gulftainer.com/?ref=southeastasiaconnect.com) plans to invest in capacity, productivity and services at Suksawat. It also wants to use the terminal as the base for a wider Thai platform combining port operations, inland transport, logistics infrastructure and maritime connectivity. The company identified automotive, electronics, consumer goods, petrochemicals and food exports as target sectors.
