# Ministry assures cooking oil supply secure despite low DMO

Indonesia’s Trade Ministry said cooking oil supply, including subsidized Minyakita, remains secure in local markets despite a drop in the domestic market obligation (DMO) for crude palm oil. Director General of Domestic Trade Iqbal Shoffan Shofwan said the government issued Minister of Trade Regulation (Permendag) Number 20 of 2026 to maintain supplies of Minyakita as well as premium and second-tier packaged brands, with a focus on traditional markets.

The ministry said DMO realization was 53,059 tons as of July 17, 2026, compared with 102,625 tons in June and 215,359 tons in July 2025\. Iqbal said the lower DMO figures reflect reduced export decisions by palm oil producers because DMO obligations apply when producers export CPO and its derivatives, rather than indicating a domestic supply deficit. Under Article 4A of Permendag No. 20/2026, producers are required to supply packaged cooking oil directly to domestic markets to meet household consumption needs regardless of export fluctuations. The ministry also said export movements depend on international demand and business-to-business agreements, while overall CPO export volumes over the past two years have remained relatively stable despite seasonal variation.
