At a 28 October event in Singapore, the European Innovation Council (EIC) introduced its visiting deep-tech firms to investors and corporate leaders through a programme exploring potential Asian business, research and funding partnerships.

European Innovation Night at the Asian Civilisations Museum brought together more than 150 investors, company leaders, policymakers and innovators, according to a release from the EIC, the EU Delegation to Singapore and Eureka. The three organisations co-organised the gathering during Singapore International Energy Week and SWITCH, a technology conference.

The 12 EIC-backed firms came from 10 countries and work in industrial decarbonisation, energy and electrification, circular materials and advanced computing. The EIC Global Business Expansion Programme assessed their readiness, refined market-entry plans and introduced them to potential corporate, investment and institutional partners. They were among more than 60 European startups and scaleups at the wider event.

Eureka, an intergovernmental research and innovation network, brought a delegation of 35 companies from 16 countries. Its director general, Brit Helle, said the group aimed to meet potential research, investor and business partners in Singapore.

Companies are meeting Singapore investors, corporates and ecosystem partners during the week to explore co-development, supply-chain and investment opportunities. The EIC says Singapore is already the second-largest source of investment in EIC-backed companies outside Europe, after the United States. This week's meetings bring that investor market into direct contact with firms seeking commercial partners in the programme's target sectors.
