NEU Battery Materials raises US$7.6m to scale Singapore lithium-recycling plant
The newly commissioned plant has stated capacity for 1,300 tonnes of battery material a year, and the capital will support production ramp-up.

NEU Battery Materials has closed a US$7.6 million funding round as it begins scaling a newly commissioned lithium iron phosphate battery-recycling plant in Singapore. The 13 October announcement links fresh capital to production ramp-up at a facility with stated capacity to process 1,300 tonnes of battery material a year. For battery makers and recyclers, the development adds a Singapore-based route for recovering lithium from material that would otherwise need another processing destination.
Shift4Good and SGInnovate co-led the round, according to NEU's original release distributed by PR Newswire. New investors Lotus Singapore Group and M7 Holdings joined existing backer Paragon Ventures I. NEU says the money will support output of battery-grade lithium from lithium iron phosphate, or LFP, production scrap and end-of-life battery black mass, as well as international expansion.
From commissioned capacity to operating output
The plant's 1,300-tonne annual figure is stated processing capacity, not a reported volume already recovered. NEU says the facility has been commissioned and the funding will support ramp-up of battery-grade lithium production from LFP feedstock. That puts a physical production site behind the company's scale-up plan, while actual annual throughput and steady output remain to be established through operation.
NEU's process takes production scrap or black mass from shredded end-of-life batteries and extracts lithium for further processing into battery-grade material. The company describes an electrochemical system driven by electricity and water that uses regenerative chemicals. Its commercial task is to run that process reliably across varying feedstock and build a steady outlet for recovered material. The new plant provides the physical setting for that work; the funding supplies resources to develop and operate it.
Why the Singapore site matters
NEU says it will focus on scaling production, reducing production costs and expanding its partner network with the new capital and commissioned plant. For Singapore battery manufacturers and recyclers, the immediate commercial question is whether a local line can take cathode production scrap and end-of-life black mass and produce consistent battery-grade lithium at a useful scale. The facility creates a place to test that supply-chain role; the company has also stated an intention to expand internationally, without naming an operating overseas facility in this announcement.
