The Vietnam Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (VAMM) reported 686,661 motorcycles sold in Vietnam by its six manufacturer and importer members in the third quarter of 2026. The July–September figure puts domestic member sales at the centre of the industry picture. Alongside that market snapshot, Honda Vietnam has reported completed motorcycle exports, while Yadea has opened a new electric-motorcycle plant in Bắc Ninh.

What the member-sales figures show

In its 9 October release, VAMM counted sales by Honda, Yamaha, SYM, Piaggio, Suzuki and Kawasaki. Its third-quarter 2025 report recorded 621,732 sales from five members, before Kawasaki appeared in the reporting roster. VAMM described the newer total as 10.4% higher year on year; because the roster changed, the published figures do not isolate like-for-like sales growth for the original five members.

The second-quarter 2026 report recorded 638,431 sales and the first-quarter report recorded 729,121, each from five members. VAMM defines these as members' sales into the Vietnamese market, excluding production and exports; it does not provide a breakdown by maker or powertrain in the quarterly totals.

Honda's export channel and production base

Honda Vietnam's fiscal-year results add a different measure of activity. For the year ended 31 March 2026, the company reported nearly 240,000 complete motorcycle exports and said it began exporting electric motorcycles in February. It also reported nearly 2.5 million motorcycles produced against annual design capacity of 2.75 million across three factories.

Honda also reported nearly 2.3 million motorcycles sold in Vietnam during that fiscal year and the introduction of 14 new motorcycle models, including an electric model. Those annual company figures show the scale and breadth of a major VAMM member, though they use a different reporting period from VAMM’s July–September quarter.

Honda estimated export value at US$542 million, including both complete motorcycles and parts. Its unit-export figure therefore describes finished bikes, while the dollar figure spans a wider product mix. Neither figure is part of VAMM's domestic member-sales total. Together, Honda's realised production and exports show an established manufacturing and overseas-sales channel that sits beside the association's local sell-out data.

Yadea's electric plant adds capacity

In its original plant announcement, Yadea said it inaugurated the first phase of its Bắc Ninh facility on 1 March 2026 and that the first Osta electric motorcycle rolled off the line. It gave the plant an initial design capacity of one million units a year, with a later plan to expand to two million. The first roll-off establishes that a production line began operating; the stated capacity is not a count of motorcycles produced or sold.

VAMM’s six-member sales total, Honda’s completed exports and Yadea’s new plant show domestic demand, overseas supply and future electric-motorcycle capacity through distinct measures.
