Singapore-headquartered Agoda has introduced an AI room-selection assistant in its mobile app. The product matters because it moves artificial intelligence into a specific booking decision: helping travellers compare room types, meal inclusions, cancellation terms and prices without leaving the room-selection page.

Agoda said the Room Grid Bot uses a traveller's current search details and preferences shared in the chat to recommend relevant options. It can answer property questions, highlight inclusions such as breakfast and identify a best-fit option, although the company has not published independent evidence that the tool improves booking accuracy or conversion. For Southeast Asia's travel-technology market, the launch shows how platforms are shifting from broad chatbots to narrower tools embedded in commercial workflows. The useful test is whether the assistant reduces comparison effort while still presenting price and cancellation conditions clearly.

The feature builds on Agoda's existing property and checkout assistants. Travellers can open it from the room-selection page in the app, which keeps the recommendation step close to the purchase decision rather than sending users to a separate service.

For hotel partners, the feature also raises a practical presentation challenge. Room names, inclusions and cancellation rules must be structured clearly enough for the assistant to compare them without hiding important differences. Poor property data could make a convenient recommendation less reliable.

Readers should watch how widely the tool becomes available, whether recommendations remain transparent and whether travellers can easily compare the suggested room with other options before booking.
