PhysicsX opens Singapore hub with joint S$40m A*STAR programme
The five-year joint S$40 million PhysicsX–A*STAR programme will develop AI engineering simulation for maritime, manufacturing, semiconductor and biotech work from Singapore.

PhysicsX has established an Asia-Pacific engineering hub in Singapore and announced a five-year partnership with A*STAR under which the two organisations will jointly commit S$40 million to AI-powered engineering simulation. The company said on 8 October that 20 employees already work through the hub.
The new base gives PhysicsX a local team for customers and research partners in the region. Its planned work combines simulation, engineering and AI to examine complex designs and manufacturing processes. PhysicsX aims to grow the Singapore team to more than 100 people over three years, including engineers and researchers; that figure is a hiring target, not a current headcount.
Joint research commitment
PhysicsX and Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research, or A*STAR, said their S$40 million commitment covers five years of developing and applying AI capabilities. They identified maritime engineering, advanced manufacturing, semiconductor manufacturing and biotechnology as areas of work. The announcement describes a joint commitment, not funding already spent or an investment made by PhysicsX alone.
The programme pairs PhysicsX's AI platform with A*STAR's scientific and engineering knowledge to develop simulation methods for complex design and manufacturing work. A*STAR's research and industry collaborations will provide a route to explore applications with industrial partners across the named sectors.
Regional engineering base
PhysicsX names Seatrium as a current industrial collaborator on marine design decisions. EDB helped establish the Singapore hub and Temasek supports the company's expansion; those roles are distinct from the joint S$40 million A*STAR programme. The Seatrium work gives the Singapore research programme a named industrial contact point alongside A*STAR's existing industry network.
Together, the operating hub, joint research commitment and named maritime collaborator place industrial AI engineering work in Singapore. The five-year programme is intended to bring researchers and industry partners into simulation work spanning maritime engineering, advanced manufacturing, semiconductor production and biotechnology.
